Air alert: NATO Air Policing fighter jets scrambled in response to a Lithuanian airspace...

On October 23 at around 6.00 p.m., the Lithuanian Air Force detected a violation of state border near Kybartai: one  SU-30 and one IL-78 refueling aircraft of the Russian Federation, potentially on a fuel filling up drill over Kaliningrad, violated the Lithuanian airspace and flew approx. 700 meters inland, after approx. 18 seconds in the territory of Lithuania the aircraft left. Two Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states from Lithuania were put in the air in response: the equipment was sent to the violation area and are currently patrolling it.
