On December 7 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys and other NATO Chiefs of Defence discussed the situation in Ukraine and the eastern region of the Alliance.
“It’s a clear message: NATO allies, in Europe and more broadly, see the security picture the same. NATO is on the watch, united, and ready to respond anywhere,” Chief of Defence said after the meeting.
The virtual extraordinary NATO Military Committee session was attended by Chiefs of Defence of the 30 NATO allied countries. U.S. European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Tod Walters presented the security situation and discussed potential actions.
The extraordinary session of the NATO Military Committee was initiated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in recognition of a need for military advice on the tensions near the Ukrainian borders and other regions.
