On November 11 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas met with Major General Mark C. Schwartz, Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command Europe, to discuss security situation and military cooperation.
Lt Gen J. V. Žukas thanked Maj Gen M. C. Schwartz for all the support to the Lithuanian Armed Forces, and particularly the Special Operations Forces, and presented development plans and readiness to respond to threats of various types of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. Also, Chief of Defence invited the U.S. Special Operations Command Europe to keep taking part in military exercises in our region seeking to enhance interoperability and coordination of actions with special forces and other services of our armed forces.
In his turn Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command Europe assured that the scope of cooperation between the U.S. Special Operations Command Europe and the Lithuanian Armed Forces will only grow in the future. The US General also thanked the Lithuanian Armed Forces for contributing to the combined assistance rendered to Ukraine's armed forces.
Lithuanian soldiers train Ukrainian colleagues to plan operations according to NATO standards and individual skills to alongside Canadian, Polish and US troops.
Major General Mark C. Schwartz assumed command of the U.S. Special Operations Command Europe as of June 8.
