On July 17 Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Training and Doctrine Command Brig Gen Gintautas Zenkevičius met with Commander of the German Bundeswehr Joint Forces Operations Command Lieutenant General Erich Pfeffer and his delegation.
The guests were briefed on the activities and tasks of the headquarters and units of the Training and Doctrine Command, courses delivered there, application and installation of military training simulation systems, infrastructure, current situation and development plans of military training areas.
"Development of the training area in Pabradė is very important and it has to be continued step by step in order to train professional soldiers and provide conditions for a quality training of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group," Lt Gen Erich Pfeffer said.
Cooperation with NATO allies, with a focus on the contribution of the German Armed Forces to the development of training areas of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, was discussed in the second part of the meeting.
"Our mission is to make our military areas an attractive opportunity for our and our allies' soldiers' training," Brig Gen Gintautas Zenkevičius.
The main objective of the Training and Doctrine Command is to carry out individual training of Lithuanian military personnel and to arrange personnel training for the National Defence System, to draft doctrine documents in military area for the Lithuanian Armed Forces, to provide collective training support to units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, to ensure availability of military training areas, simulation systems and training objects, to supervise implementation of provisions of documents regulating assessment of collective training and readiness levels of military units.
Units subordinate to the Training and Doctrine Command are the Lithuanian Great Hetman Jonušas Radvila Training Regiment in Rukla (Jonava region), Division General Stasys Raštikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School, General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre.
