On March 18-20 Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Major General Valdemaras Rupšys was on a visit to Sweden to attend Distinguished Visitors Day of Exercise Northern Wind 2019. It is the first exercise of such scope and nature organised in Sweden since 1991, preparations for the event this year took nearly two years.


Land Force Commander familiarised with the structure of the exercise, equipment and weaponry of participating countries, aspects of organisation and command of the event. While on the visit, he also discussed cooperation with leaders of Sweden's, Finland's and Norway's armies.


The brigade-level field training exercise running in Sweden on March 18-28, Northern Wind 2019, trains national defence operations side by side with the allies in winter conditions. Located in the north-eastern region of Sweden, the exercise involves approx. 10 thousand troops from Sweden, Finland, Norway, U.S., and the UK.
