September 4, Political Director of the ministry of National Defence Vaidotas Urbelis and Capability and Armament Director General Col Valdas Šiaučiulis met with Rear Admiral Mark C. Montgomery, Deputy Director (DJ5) Plans, Policy and Strategy United States European Command (EUCOM), and his delegation on visit in Lithuania.
At the meeting actual steps to be taken to strengthen cooperation between Lithuania and the United States of America in defence planning, joint exercises, and other areas, were discussed.
USEUCOM is the U.S. command based in Europe (Germany) responsible for military cooperation of the U.S.A. with 51 countries in the region of Eurasia.
Rear Admiral M.C. Montgomery also visited the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces where he met with Chief of the Joint Headquarters Col Vilmantas Tamošaitis.
