8-18 August, two Lithuanian Armed Forces Motorized Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf specialists together with instructors from the USA, Great Britain and Kirghizia participated in the multinational exercise "Prairie Eagle 2011". The purpose of the exercise was to train Kazakhstan military personnel preparing for multinational operations. This was the first time when Lithuanian soldiers participated in such exercise in Kazakhstan.
In the exercise "Prairie Eagle 2011" military personnel of Kazakhstan military units "Kazbrig and Kazbat" were trained for participation in multinational operations. The exercise was conducted in three training areas with the participation of more than 1.4 thousand troops.
During the exercise soldiers of Motorized Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf Capt Paulius Diliūnas and Pvt Darius Žvirblis consulted participants in the field of communications and information technology. Lithuanian soldiers organized a three-day signaller training. Kazakh soldiers learned setting of "HARRIS" radio stations, data transmission, possible faults and their elimination.
Lithuanian troops have also administered information systems before the start of the active phase of the exercise, carried out inspection of communication equipment and software, provided assistance in fault elimination, advised how to install radio stations in vehicles.
Lithuanian military expert participation in the exercise is carried out in accordance with bilateral cooperation plan between Lithuania and Kazakhstan, according to this plan Kazakh officers attend courses in the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy and NCO instructor courses in Lithuanian Armed Forces School.
