At around 1100hrs Friday a MAN military truck collided with a civilian Volvo S60 in the 35th kilometre of Pikeliškis-Maišiogala road near Melkys village in Vilnius region.
The police confirmed that the accident killed two car passengers. One of them was 21-year old R.P. in service with the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalion. The soldier's next of kin have been notified.
Soldiers of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group aboard the military truck did not suffer any injuries.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces leadership extend their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased.
The road accident is under investigation of Vilnius Region Police.
