By order of the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Defence of Lithuania national flags were lowered in divisions of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and in the square of the Ministry of National Defence to honour the memory of the departed.
„A tragedy beyond description has hit armed forces of Poland," R. Juknevičienė said. „It is fatalistic that the plane crashed carrying Poland's leading officials to the event of tributing Polish soldiers killed in Katyn during WWII: it is as if another similar Poland's loss of the nation's leaders and high ranking officers."
Lithuania and Poland develop strategic partnership in enhancing security of the countries and in participation in the development of NATO's military capabilities.
