On August 9 Permanent Representative of the Republic of Lithuania to NATO Ambassador Kęstutis Jankauskas paid a visit to the Šiauliai Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Force.
Chief of Staff of the Air Base Maj Gen Sergėjus Buitvidas presented to the guest the Air Base and provided an overview of the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission. The guest conducting his first visit at the Air Base took interest in the tasks, perspective, and personnel of the Air Base, and viewed air assets of the Lithuanian Air Force.
Ambassador of Lithuania to NATO also met with Commander of the Polish Contingent currently conducting the Baltic Air Policing mission Lt Col Leszek Błach and observed Mig-29 fighters of the Polish Air Force deployed on the mission.
