On January 21-22 Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the three Baltic states had a meeting on trilateral special forces cooperation, activity of the Baltic Special Operations Forces Intelligence Fusion Cell, aspects of regional defence, and joint standby for the NATO Rapid Response Force.
“We have discussed with the Estonian and Latvian colleagues the security situation in the region and other matters relevant to the Baltic Special Operations Forces. The current planning and coordination level of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Special Operations Forces speaks of the situation where any action taken by the forces of any country will have major effects on the overall security,” Commander of the Lithuanian Special Operations Forces Col Mindaugas Mažonas said.
The Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian Special Operations Forces train and share experience in joint exercises, they had been deployed to international operations together, and a special platform, Baltic Special Operations Forces Intelligence Fusion Cell has been established since 2018 to ensure fluent cooperation among the forces.
