Belgian Defence Minister Pieter De Crem visit Šiauliai Air Base

On September 5th in Lithuanian Air Force Aviation Base visited the Belgian defense minister Pieter De Crem and his delegation - Belgian Ambassador to Lithuania Peter Lescouhier, diplomacy Advisor to the minister Dominique De Struye Swielande, and Ambassador at the European Union Michel Tilemans.


At the air base Belgian delegation met Defence deputy Marijus Velička, Air Force commander, Maj. Gen. Edvardas Mažeikis, acting Air Base commander Lt. Col. Gintaras Gasys and Belgian Royal Air Force unit under the NATO air policing mission over the Baltic States senior commander Cpt. Kris Hulpiau.


Belgian Defence Minister and the delegation were introduced with air base structure, activities, future plans and Belgian Royal Air Force contingent involvement of NATO air policing mission.


Belgian Minister met with the Belgian contingent troops, watched fighters F-16"fighting falcon" take-off. The delegation also looks over a new administrative building, which will be devoted to air policing detachment countries daily work.
