Brigadier General Artūras Radvilas joins the ranks at Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast

On August 13 Commander of the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) Lieutenant General Dariusz Parylak  introduced Brigadier General Artūras Radvilas as the next HQ MNC NE Deputy Chief of Staff in front of a Polish Armed Forces Day formation. HQ MNC NE oversees Allied Land Component operations, including deployment of rapid response forces, in the northeastern part of the Alliance. Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast also coordinates NATO capabilities deployed in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

An increasing number of Lithuanians are posted to the NATO headquarters based in Szczecin, Poland, as Lithuania is looking to becoming the fourth framework nation.  The Letter of Intent was signed during the celebration of the 25th HQ MNC NE anniversary in 2024.  AS the fourth framework nation, Lithuania would be able to incorporate the national Division into HQ MNC NE forces and appoint officers to positions of command.

HQ MNC NE was established on September 18, 1999, with a treaty signature by Polish, German and Danish Ministers of Defence. The three framework nations delegate officers to fill the position of Corps Commander, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff.  Other HQ MNC NE members, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (as of 2004) amount to 22.
