Chair of the NATO Military Committee is visiting Lithuania

On November 12 through 14 Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone is conducting a visit tin Lithuania. It is a position of most senior NATO military advice to the political NATO leadership and coordination of NATO’s military capabilities across the Alliance. 

The central focus of the high-level visit is a discussion on the security architecture on the eastern flank, strengthening of the Allied capabilities in Lithuania, integration of the allied forces and relevant security developments in the region with Chief of Defence of Lithuania General Raimundas Vaikšnoras. 

“The visit of the Chair of the NATO Military Committee to Lithuania is a meaningful signal that the Alliance takes security of our region very seriously. The Chair of the NATO Military Committee is NATO’s military voice in the highest political formats, therefore every dialogue like this strengthens our common security infrastructure and readiness to act together. 

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone is directly oversees the security of the eastern flank. Our meeting addresses critical topics: NATO operations and initiatives for further strengthening the eastern flank, consistent support to Ukraine, and, obviously, Allied forces in Lithuania,” said Chief of Defence General R.Vaikšnoras.

Admiral’s visit agenda also includes meetings with President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas, as well as touring the border area and Lithuanian Armed Forces units to familiarize with the activities of NATO forces and interoperability between the Lithuanian defence structure organization and the Alliance’s.
