September 17-19, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Maj Gen Arvydas Pocius will take part in the meeting of NATO Military Committee, High Tatras, Slovakia.
During two days of the NATO's Military Committee's session and meetings Chiefs of Defence of the 28 NATO member states will focus on operations of the Alliance, NATO's reforms and the Strategic Concept expected to be released at the NATO Summit in Lisbon (19 November 2010).
Particular attention in the meeting will be paid to the NATO's International Security Assistance Force's operation in Afghanistan. CHODS in this session will be joined by ISAF Commander General David Petraeus via videoconference.
Supreme Allied Commander Operations Admiral James Stavridis and Supreme Allied Commander Transformation General Stéphane Abrial will be also attending the event.
NATO's Military Committee is the highest military command institution of NATO subordinate to the North Atlantic Council, Defence Planning and Nuclear Planning.
NATO's Military Committee adopts decisions and forms military advice to the North Atlantic Council who in its turn makes political decisions. Daily work of the Military Committee is done during sessions of military representatives of member states.
NATO's Military Committee meets in Chiefs of Defence level three times per year. Two of the sessions are held in Brussels and one - in a NATO member state on a rotational basis.
