Chief of Defence of Lithuania discussed cyber and regional NATO security in Estonia

On January 15-16 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Major General Jonas Vytautas Žukas conducted a visit in Estonia where he met with Baltic and Finnish Chiefs of Defence, Director General of the International Military Staff Air Marshal Sir Christopher Harper, Director of Plans and Policy Division (International Military Staff) Major General Neeme Väli, United States Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee Lieutenant General David R. Hogg and former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Richard Schireff (retired). The session focussed on the security situation in the Baltic region, NATO cyber defence, air policing mission in the Baltic States, and other points of relevance.

 

During the meeting the officers also made visits to the Headquarters of the Estonian Armed Forces, the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and the Amari Air Base, and paid tribute to the fallen Estonian soldiers at the military cemetery of Estonia. Participants of the meeting also attended a formal dinner with Defence Minister of Estonia Sven Mikser.
