On September 9-10 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Major General Valdemaras Rupšys conducted a visit to Naples, Italy, to attend a conference of the three Baltic states' Chiefs of Defence and Commander Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFC Naples).
The Baltic Chiefs of Defence and Admiral James Foggo, Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples, discussed NATO strategic maritime picture and security in the Baltic Sea. The Chiefs also addressed maritime security and regional threats of the southern flank of the Alliance.
The Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFC Naples) provides operational command and control to the NATO Response Force in its area of responsibility. The Joint Task Force Headquarters generated as required is rotated annually between Brunssum and Naples, both commands are subordinate to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Command Europe based in Mons (Belgium) which is responsible for planning and execution of joint military operations aligned with NATO's political agenda.
