Lithuanian civilians and military attend to women's issues in Ghowr

On February 21 members of Chaghcharan PRT-10 conducted a patrol in Tahar I Temur village where they met with village's senior and members of council as well as delivered assistance for locals. Another goal of the patrol was attention to women's problems in the village.

Commander PRT-10 Col. Gediminas Macijauskas and representatives of local community discussed problems faced by locals, found out how they were spending winter, whether participation in development cooperation projects related to provincial reconstruction is successful, and how collaboration with local authority institutions was going.

Considerable attention of the patrol was devoted to problems of local women. In collaboration with local government and in accordance to its recommendations soldiers of PRT go to provincial settlements to communicate with local women. Deputy Director of Department for Women's Affairs Abdul Zaher joined patrol to Tahar I Temur village. Local officer and PRT-10 CIMIC Specialist 1st Lt. Inga Pranaitiene talked to women of local community.

„We constantly meet with local women to show attention, find out about their daily lives and concerns. We get to know daily works of women, role in community activities, attended courses and activities, whether enough attention is paid to their matters by local government," 1st Lt. Inga Pranaitienė said.

Representatives of PRT develop steady cooperation with Department of Women Affairs of Ghowr. Civilian and military personnel of PRT organise get-togethers and events where around 15 women from PRT personnel (representing Lithuania, Japan, and USA) take part.
