Chief of Defence of Lithuania will visit Headquarters Allied Air Command Ramstein
On February 13 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Arvydas Pocius and Commander of the Lithuanian Air Force Major General Edvardas Mažeikis departed for Ramstein (Germany) where they will conduct a visit to the Headquarters Allied Air Command Ramstein and meet with Allied Air Commander General Philip M. Breedlove.

 

At the meeting such points as future prospects for the Baltic Air Surveillance Network and Control System (BALTNET), wider employment of the Šiauliai Air Base of the Lithuanian Forces in NATO's context, pilot training for night operations, and other matters of relevance to the Lithuanian Armed Forces are planned to be addressed.

 

The Commander of the Allied Air Command Ramstein is responsible for all the areas of activity of NATO's air forces related to collective defence, crisis management and airspace defence: implementation of air policing missions, tasks related to the organisation of ballistic missile system defence, and preparation to render air support in case of launching NATO's Article 5 operations and crisis response operations.
