Chief of Defence to meet Czech counterpart during visit to the Czech Republic

On April 19 through 21 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Valdemaras Rupšys is conducting a visit to the Czech Republic where he will meet with its Chief of the General Staff General Aleš Opata.

The Chiefs of Defence will discuss regional security, military cooperation between Lithuania and the Czech Republic, activity of the NATO Air Policing Mission and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group, as well as exercise and plans ahead.

Lithuanian Chief of Defence will meet and thank the Czech military personnel who served in the NATO Air Policing Mission and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Groups.

Czech military personnel joined the NATO enhanced Forward Presence in Lithuania in 2018. There are 131 Czech nationals currently serving in the Battle Group. Czech Air Force capabilities have been conducting their fourth rotation of the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic States since 2022 April 1.
