Chief of the Defence staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces rear Admiral Giedrius Premeneckas met with Ambassador of the United Sates to Lithuania HE Kara C. McDonald. They topics they discussed included national and regional security, Allied presence in Lithuania and other mutually relevant themes of military cooperation. Chief of the Defence Staff underscored that ac persistent Allied presence in the regional was the keystone deterrent strengthening security of Lithuania and the entire eastern flank.
“Lithuania and the U.S. are bound together by a steadfast cooperation built on trust. Our soldiers are conducting a conscious cycle of training to be effective in joint missions in defence of every inch of Allied territory. This visit marks a shared goal to further develop military cooperation and interoperability of our forces,” said Chief of the Defence Staff Rear Admiral Giedrius Premeneckas.
He also walked the Ambassador through the combat platform, advanced military infrastructure development and activity plans while highlighting the upgrading processes and enhancement of defensive capacity. According to Chief of the Defence Staff, the infrastructure for hosting the U.S. forces is not just a practical step, it is an investment in the defensive capacity of Lithuania and our NATO Allies. He and the Ambassador discussed in detail improvement of service conditions which directly entails an expansion of the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ capacity to meet the Host Nation Support commitment and manning the military units for the 1st Division, as well as increasing the trained reserve.
