Chiefs of Defence of Belgium and Lithuania discussed further bilateral cooperation

On November 5 Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Arvydas Pocius met with Chief of Defence of Belgium General Gerard Van Caelenberge at the Air Base of the Lithuanian Air Force in Šiauliai. The guest also met with military personnel of the Belgian Air Contingent deployed on NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission, toured the Air Base facilities and familiarised with the activities conducted there.

 

The Lithuanian and the Belgian Chiefs of Defence and their delegations met bilaterally to address perspectives of further cooperation between the countries.

 

At the meetings Commander of the Air Base Lieutenant Colonel Vidmantas Raklevičius presented infrastructure, activities and aircraft, then the guests continued to tour the Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) area where the NATO's Air Contingent with F-16 Fighting Falcon jets is deployed for the period of the Baltic Air Policing mission. The delegations also visited the new building of NATO Air Policing Headquarters and watched a scramble drill.
