Commander of Polish Operations Command met with Chief of Joint Headquarters of Lithuania

On August 30 Commander of Operations Command of the Republic of Poland Lieutenant General Edward Gruszka on a formal visit in Lithuania paid a visit to the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. During the visit General met with Chief of Joint Headquarters Col Vilmantas Tamošaitis, the guest was briefed on the activities and functions the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, and participation of the military personnel of Lithuania in multinational operations as well as future plans.


"I am very happy about the opportunity to visit Lithuania and familiarise with the activity of the Joint Headquarters of the Lithuanian Armed Forces," said Lt Gen Edward Gruszka during the visit and stressed that the Polish Armed Forces will continue active cooperation with the Lithuanian Armed Forces.


Col V. Tamošaitis stressed while commenting on the cooperation between Lithuania and Poland that strong historical bonds have been connecting Lithuanian and Polish armed capabilities since long ago, and after the restoration of independence military personnel of countries has been intensely seeking NATO membership in tight cooperation. It is worth mentioning that both Col V. Tamošaitis and Lt Gen E. Gruszka have been in charge of military units including both Polish and Lithuanian troops during their careers. Lithuanian Colonel led the joint Lithuanian-Polish Battalion LITPOLBAT, and the Polish General - the Polish detachment deployed in Iraq including a Lithuanian military unit.

It was the first visit of the Polish Commander of Operations Command to the Lithuanian joint Headquarters.
