On November 6 Commander of the Bundeswehr Geoinformation Centre Brigadier General Peter Webert with a delegation paid a visit to the Lithuanian Armed Forces Military Mapping Centre. They were familiarized with the geospatial provision system, cartographic products and Host Nation Support capabilities in the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
Subject matter experts presented to the guests data collection systems developed in the Lithuanian Armed Forces and future plans. Head of the Military Mapping Centre Maj Vytenis Žilevičius and Commander of the Bundeswehr Geoinformation Centre discussed cooperation on geospatial provision and other vital aspects of topo-geodetic support and opportunity for long-term cooperation with the deploying 45th Bundeswehr Brigade.
The guests also met with troops of the Geoinformation Element of the 45th Brigade.
The Military Mapping Centre of the Lithuanian Armed Forces provides cartographic material, such as topographic and special purpose maps or GIS data, across the Lithuanian Armed Forces, and prints maps, magazines, posters, brochures, booklets, books, document forms and targets, to meet the requirements of the national defence system.
