Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force will attend the Nordic Army Commanders Conference in Sweden

On October 17-18 Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Major General Almantas Leika will attend the annual Nordic Army Commanders Conference in Helsinki (Finland) to stand in for the Lithuanian Chief of Defence. Chiefs of Defence or their authorised delegates of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland and Sweden together with the representatives of the U.S. Army Europe Headquarters will share their experience and discuss relevant points of mutual military cooperation.

 

The Conference will also address possible pooling and sharing activities in support of the NATO vision, the approach in the region towards the NATO Air Policing mission, coordination of the Nordic and Baltic countries and security issues in the Arctic region.

 

Furthermore, a work meeting with Commander of the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) James G. Stavridis during the visit of Maj Gen A.Leika in Finland is scheduled.

 

The Nordic Army Commanders Conference organised annually by EUCOM and the Chief of Defence of the host nation - Finland this year. Such congresses are held once a year and the venue is selected on the principle of rotation.
