On September 10-11 Commander of the Lithuanian Navy Rear Admiral (lower half) Arūnas Mockus attended Distinguished Visitors Day of Exercise Northern Coasts 2019 (NOCO 2019) alongside Inspector General of the Bundeswehr of the Federal Republic of Germany Gen E. Zorn, Inspector of the German Navy Vice Admiral A. Krause, and navy commanders and representatives of other NATO and European Union countries.
The guests observed a range of NOCO 2019 exercise elements - air defence, mine countermeasures actions, at-sea replenishment, and defence against asymmetric threats - from aboard FGS OLDENBURG corvette of the Navy of the Federal Republic of Germany. Inspector of the German Navy underscored that "the exercise is an excellent opportunity to hone readiness for joint international coastal and shallow waters operations, and a clear demonstration of solidarity and resolve to respond to the different threats together of NATO and European Union members in the Baltic region and other allies."
Two Lithuanian Navy ships, LNS Žemaitis (P11) patrol ship and LNS Skalvis (M53) mine countermeasures ship, are training at Northern Coasts 2019.
