Commander of the Lithuanian Navy attended the international Navy Tech & Seabed Defence 2026...

On February 2 through 5 Commander Lithuanian Navy Captain (Navy) Tadas Jablonskis took part in the international Navy Tech & Seabed Defence 2026 Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden. He delivered a n address on “Protection of underwater infrastructure in the Baltic” in which he analyzed the role of critical undersea infrastructure in regional security, the threats to undersea cables, pipelines and other systems, as well as the role of the Navy in ensuring their monitoring and defence.

Navy Tech 2026 is one of the largest international navy technology conferences pulling together navy representatives and commanders, defence policy leaders, representatives of industry and technology developers from dozens of countries. The Conference featured such themes as autonomous naval systems, AI, monitoring in the maritime domain, cyber security, integration of uncrewed platforms, development of subsurface capabilities, and multinational operational interoperability.

Representatives of the Lithuanian Navy also held a bilateral meeting with colleagues from the Republic of Singapore Navy while in Gothenburg. They discussed future cooperation options, security situations in the respective regions, best practices and other shared interests. 

In an interview to Defence Leader Commander Lithuanian Navy Captain (Navy) Tadas Jablonskis underscored the significance of the Conference, the importance of multinational cooperation and engagement of all participants in strengthening maritime security. According to Commander, such gatherings not only facilitate experience-sharing but also allow to develop mutual solutions in response to the emerging security realities in the Baltic Sea.
