Commander of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade

Commander of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade

On February 18-19 Colonel Raimundas Vaikšnoras, Commander of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf", will be discussing cooperation in the area of military training and Denmark's contribution to the training of Baltic brigades at a meeting with the leadership of the Danish Division and commanders of Estonian and Latvian brigades in Copenhagen, Denmark.

"Our Brigade have been attending training events and exercises organised by the Danish Division Staff alongside other Baltic nations' military  for a long time already, there we are improving our planning and operational control skills in composition of a multinational division," Commander of the Mechanised Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf" COL R. Vaikšnoras said.

According to COL R. Vaikšnoras, multinational cooperation in that format is among the top priorities of combat training of the MIB "Iron Wolf" that ensures the ability of the Brigade's personnel to act alongside the allies.

The affiliation to the Danish Division gives an opportunity for the military personnel of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian brigades to attend collective training and exercises held in Denmark and the Baltic States. Such exercises train the troops planning military operations as part of a multinational division. One of the most important Baltic-Danish training events Exercise Yellow Knight will take place in April in Denmark.

Defence cooperation between Lithuania and Denmark is rather intense. One of the most important bilateral military projects is the LITBRIG project launched as early as 2005 by the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Danish Defence on the initiative of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is aimed at having the staffs of the Lithuanian Land Force and Mechanised Infantry Brigade "Iron Wolf", and the MIB "Iron Wolf" fully trained for the involvement in all NATO operations by the end of 2014.
