Cooperation and training assistance to Ukraine discussed during CHOD’s trip to Germany

On January 24–26 Chief of Defence Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys is on a visit to Berlin meeting Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Gen Eberhard Zorn, Commander of the German Army Lt Gen Alfons Mais and members of the Defence Committee of the Bundestag. The aim of the visit is to take stock of collaboration results and to map out next military events and potential areas for cooperation.  

The meeting with Chief of the German Army Lt Gen A. Mais will focus on harmonizing the training schedule of the German brigade pre-assigned for Lithuania’s defence and other events for next year.

Chief of Defence is also planned to visit Strasbourg to address Lithuania’s contribution of individual, collective and specialized training alongside German Allies to the EU Military Assistance Mission Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). The objective of the mission is to enhance military capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to execute military operations effectively to the end of ensuring the defence of its territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders, to effectively exercise the sovereignty of Ukraine and to defend civilian residents.
