November 10, 20 Defence Attachés accredited to Lithuania with their assistants visited Headquarters of the Motorised Infantry Brigade „Iron Wolf" in Rukla.
Upon arriving to Rukla the guests were received by Chief of Staff of MIB „Iron Wolf " Lt. Col. Egidijus Karvelis. Chief of Staff introduced to the guests the Brigade, made a short briefing about its tasks and activities, the Brigade's divisions deployed in Rukla - the command, and the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised, General Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery, Lithuanian Grand Duke Vaidotas Forward Support Logistic Battalions.
Foreign Defence Attachés also familiarised with the activity of the Baltic Battalion constituted mainly of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion and its readiness to take part in NRF-14 in the first half of the following year.
In the Brigade's parade square equipment and arms of MIB „Iron Wolf" were presented to the guests, and technical properties of multipurpose SISU vehicles were demonstrated.
In Gaižiūnai Training Area the guests were provided with an opportunity to observe live-firing training.
To this moment there are 29 Defence Attachés accredited to Lithuania by 30 states. Totally 183 Defence Attachés have been accredited to Lithuania in the period between 1991 and 2009. Currently Foreign Defence Attaché Association in Vilnius is chaired by the US Naval Defence Attaché Cmdr. Tomas A. Alksninis.
