On April 26-27 Defence Attachés accredited to Lithuania visited Vilnius and Šiauliai.
On the first day of visit foreign guests met with the Chief Adviser to the President Jonas Markevičius and other officials of the President's Office at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania. Later the visiting Attachés proceeded to the Defence Staff of the Ministry of National Defence and met with the Chief of Defence of Lithuania Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius and listened to a representation of the Military Doctrine of Lithuania.
On April 27, Defence Attachés visited LAF Šiauliai Air Base where they met with the present rotation of French airmen conducting the Baltic Air-policing mission and observed scramble of „Mirage 2000" fighter-jets.
Defence attachés from 178 countries have been accredited to Lithuania since 1991. There are 29 Defence Attachés accredited to Lithuania, USA has two - Defence and Land Force Attaché and Naval Attaché - accredited to our country. Foreign Defence Attachés Association in Vilnius is chaired by the US Naval Attaché Cdr. Tomas A. Alksninis.
