April 27-28, delegation of the Combat School of the Swedish National Home Guard will pay a visit to the Lithuanian Land Force.
During the visit representatives of the Kingdom of Sweden will visit Headquarters of the Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Force in Vilnius and Training Centre of the Lithuanian Land Force Command in Rukla. The guest delegation will be familiarised with the Lithuanian Land Force and training divisions, and perspectives of closer cooperation will be addressed.
National Defence Volunteer Force develops close cooperation with the Swedish Volunteer Training Centre. The insitution accepts officers and NCOs of the Lithuanian National Defence Volunteer Force to improve their knowledge in various courses.
In 2001-2004 the Swedish Armed Forces completed successfully a project of assistance to the Lithuanian Land Force. In the period when Lithuania was seeking NATO membership Sweden handed over weaponry of two infantry battalions, engineer and staff provision companies, and conducted training for Lithuanian military personnel on handling the donated equipment. Currently cooperation with the Swedish Land Force in warfare training is in a discussion phase at the Lithuanian Land Force.
