August 9 - 10, Deputy Commander of the French Air Force Maj Gen Joel Martel and a delegation conducts visit in the Lithuanian Air Force (LAF).
On August 9 Maj Gen J. Martel met with LAF Command in Šiauliai Air Base. The guest also visited French troops protecting the Baltic skies on the Baltic Air-policing mission.
General observed locations and conditions of his nationals' service, took interest in their tasks and functions, and watched scramble and fly-by of Mirage 2000 of the French Air Component.
French airmen with four Mirage-2000 were deployed on a four-month tour of duty at Šiauliai Air Base in the end of April.
It is the third time France is in charge of the Baltic air-policing.
