EOD platoon underwent assessment exercise before assignment to NRF-15

 

 

From December 14 to 18 EOD platoon of EOD Company of Juozas Vitkus Engineering Battalion took part in assessment field exercise in Kazlų Rūda Military Area. The military event was held to assess if the platoon has reached the relevant level of readiness for duty in the 15th rotation of the NATO Response Force (NRF-15).

 

Following the exercise scenario troops implemented operations of standard and improvised explosive devices neutralization. Readiness of troops was evaluated by assessment team - officers of Joint Staff, Land Force, Military Engineering School, and MIB „Iron Wolf".

 

EOD platoon (22 soldiers) will perform duty in the NATO Response Force in the second half of the following year. The platoon will be stationed in its permanent location in Kaunas, and in case of NRF-15 activation, will deploy in Poland in EOD Company.

 

EOD platoon comprises six teams provided with cutting-edge equipment. More than a half of the platoon have prior experience of multinational deployment (Kosovo and Afghanistan).

 

NATO members biannually assign separate units to NRF on a rotational basis. National units stay on standby in their home state always ready to redeploy into the operation region within 30 days once NATO authorities have made the decision to employ NRF.
