On June 15 a crowd gathered in Rukla to see a display of military vehicles and weaponry used for the multinational Exercise Saber Strike 2014. The event put up for public attention the impressive arsenal of Denmark's, U.S., Poland's and Lithuania's armies.
Beyond question, all the guests were most compelled by the German-designed Leopard 2 A5 heavy battle tank of the Danish Defence weighing approximately 60 tonnes and considered one of the most powerful in its class. Danish soldiers were telling the public with pleasure about the weaponry, capacity and tactical operation of the tank.
The guests also were able to see the M113 G4 armoured personnel carrier of the Danish Army, the CV9035 powerful infantry fighting vehicle, armoured transportation, recovery and evacuation trucks. The U.S. soldiers also presented the Stryker wheeled armoured vehicles which have proven themselves really efficient in multinational operations and were brought to Lithuania for Exercise Saber Strike 2014. Poland, in its turn, were showcasing a high mobility HMMWV and a reconnaissance four-wheeler, and Lithuanian troops demonstrated the M113 A1 armoured personnel carrier and the Swedish BV206 tracked personnel carrier.
In addition to that, representatives of all the above-mentioned nations put on display their equipment and light weapons.
The display was arranged in cooperation with the administration of the town of Rukla and in answer to the interest of the public.
