First fire training of the Puma IFVs conducted in Lithuania

On March 3-7 the NATO Multinational Battle Group (MN BG LTU) field training and live fire exercise trained maneuver and combat support synchronization in combat operational environment.

NATO Allies honed moving units, overcoming obstacles with bridge-layers, defensive tasks and engagement with the adversary at the Generas Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area.  In the end phase of the training the 17th MN BG LTU rotation used the Leopard 2 battle tanks, the Puma IVFs for the first deployed in Lithuania and the   PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery systems for Level 5 live fire exercise. The highest level live fire is conducted in the firing range where fire is delivered at stationary targets and also while on tactical movement in the area and through interaction between units in reflection of realistic military situation scenario.

Top command of units and subunits of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, senior enlisted leaders, Ambassadors and military representatives of MN BG LTU contributing nations were invited to the event to promote sharing of best practices and experience.

MN BG LTU is integrated into the Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf. It currently comprises approx. 1600 Allied troops from Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Netherlands, Norway and Luxembourg. The MN BG LTU are conducting an intense combat readiness cycle, take part in all major exercises in Lithuania and improve interoperability with Lithuanian troops and NATO Allies deployed in Lithuania.
