On November 12-15 Commander U.S. Army Europe Lt Gen Christopher G. Cavoli, Commander of the German Army Lt Gen Jörg Vollmer, and Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army Lt Gen Martin Wijnen conducted a visit to Lithuania.
The guests met with Chief of Defence of Lithuania Brig Gen Valdemaras Rupšys, Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Brig Gen Raimundas Vaikšnoras, toured Lithuanian military units, visited their countries' embassies, watched the international Exercise Iron Wolf 2019-II at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area, toured the infrastructure in the training area, and talked to soldiers about their service conditions.
Topical military cooperation aspects, training and activities of the rotational forces and the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion Battle Group deployed in Lithuania, participation of military personnel in international exercises, standbys for response forces, infrastructure, procurement of weaponry and equipment etc., are among the topics were discussed with the guest generals. They were also briefed on the Lithuanian Land Force development projects and discussed initiatives and opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
