German Contingent on NATO Air Policing mission trained above Vilnius

On April 11 and 13 German Contingent deployed on the Baltic Air Policing mission imitated landing of aircrafts for training purposes above the Vilnius International Airport. Such training events are held to familiarise fighter pilots with infrastructure of various civilian airports to be able to land there if such a case occurs.

Air contingents deployed by other NATO members on the Baltic Air Policing mission have also held similar drills.

Germany is the first member of NATO to take part in the Baltic Air Policing mission for the fourth time. German Air Contingent is protecting Baltic skies with six F-4F „Phantom" fighter-jets.
