September 14, soldiers of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) section of Lithuanian-led Ghor Province Reconstruction Team (PRT-13) destroyed a large quantity of various types of explosives and ammunition. Ammunition to the PRT soldiers was handed over by representatives of Ghor Province Disbandment of Illegal Armed Groups' Committee.
Some 500 pieces of various calibre explosive devices, among them - about 300 rounds were destroyed.
The task of Disbandment of Illegal Armed Groups' Committee operating in Ghor Province is collecting weapons and explosives from illegal groups, their storage and destruction. Ghor Province Security Forces are still not capable to conduct destruction of ammunition and explosives independently; therefore after finding such items they apply for assistance to PRT EOD specialists, who have necessary capabilities and skills to neutralize the explosives.
