From February 20 to 24 for a fourth time HMMWV Truck Driver's Course was organised at the Kazlų Rūda Training Area for Ukraine's military personnel before deployment on multinational operations in Afghanistan, in composition of the Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team of Ghor (PRT-15).
HMMWV Driver's Course is organised according to the same HMMWV training programme as to Lithuania troops. The course will be two-fold - theoretical part including familiarization with the structure of HMMWV truck, technical exploitation, and work safety, and practical part - driving.
HMMWV trucks were driven in difficult locations - the obstacle course in the Kazlų Rūda Training Area currently covered in ice and snow. The exercise employed special means used for improving off-way abilities of the trucks, chains fastened to the wheels. Troops were also taught to drive HMMWV in the dark part of the day, in a column, and steer a hauled truck or the towing truck.
Ukrainian troops will apply the new knowledge in the mission in Afghanistan. According to the attendees of the course, the course was particularly useful, providing new information and sinking in the previous knowledge. Certificates were presented to the graduates of the course.
