On October 24 Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Major General Almantas Leika will observe military training event Saber Junction 2012 tailored to facilitate the Unified Land Operations and interoperability capacities of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the U.S. Army Europe which will take place in Germany. Lithuanian General will attend the event by invitation of Lieutenant General Mark P. Hertling, Commander of the U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR).
"The Lithuanian Land Force cooperates closely with the USAREUR, therefore the visit will be not only a great opportunity to address relevant issues of the Land Force and points of further military cooperation but will also demonstrate to the allies that we are in one league in ensuring regional cooperation," Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Maj Gen A. Leika.
Maj Gen A. Leika will be accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Aleksiejus Gaiževskis, Chief of the Juozas Lukša Training Centre of the Lithuanian Land Force, who will take this opportunity to share the experience of arranging combat training exercises and ideas on cooperation in combat training area with foreign partners.
Saber Juncture 2012 is the largest exercise of its kind organised by USAREUR in 20 years. The training audience will number to over 1800 military personnel from 18 European partner nations.
