March 1, army personnel of Lithuania and the U.S. executed a training operation as part of the scenario of Exercise Saber Strike running in the Baltic states and Poland. The operation showcased their ability to neutralize unconventional hostile groups in a critical area. The military personnel was airlifted from the assembly area in Pabradė to the operation area at Kazlų Rūda by U.S. and British CH-47 Chinook helicopters with AH-64 Apache attack helicopters providing air support.
The operation rehearsed joint actions with Allies and combined actions of land and air capabilities.
Exercise Saber Strike is an annual United States Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) exercise, the event trains approx. 13,000 troops.
