On January 5 through 28 Lithuania and the United States are co-conducting training for HIMARS High Mobility Artillery Rocket System crews at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė.
Composite Task Force Pergalė (Victory) of the Lithuanian Land Force Rocket Artillery Battery and the U.S. 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment, trains to upkeep individual and collective skills required for stand-alone and efficient HIMARS command and maintenance.
“Joint training ensures persistent improvement of servicemembers’ expertise to meet top NATO standards, while the opportunity to train with the Allies facilitates sharing experience and consolidates interoperability”, - said Rocket Artillery Battery Commander Maj Justinas Čekanauskas.
The exercise covers training of fire control, repair and ammunition specialists, and HIMARS operators. Lithuanian and U.S. military personnel are practicing HIMARS maintenance and check-ups, taking up positions, executing fire tasks, as well as truck winter driving, missile reloading and HIMARS setup for fire.
Lithuanian Land Force Rocket Artillery Battery personnel carry out consistent collaborations with the 41st Field Artillery Brigade, V Corps and training with other U.S. and NATO Allied and partner forces in Lithuanian and abroad in order to thoroughly prepare for a successful integration of HIMARS in the Lithuanian Land Force.
