Lithuanian Armed Forces train at NATO’s enhanced Vigilance Activity Neptune Strike in the Baltic Sea

On October 29-30 military personnel of the Lithuanian Land Force, Special Operations Forces and the Navy are training in the NATO-wide enhanced Vigilance Activity Neptune Strike 2024-2. During the segment of the operation situated in the territorial sea of Lithuania, joint terminal attack controllers of the Lithuanian Armed Forces General Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion and the Special Operations Forces coordinated air attacks of the German Eurofighter Typhoons against targets in the Baltic Sea, while LNS Dzūkas (P12) and  Jotvingis (N42) drilled live fire delivered against surface targets from  76 mm and 40 mm guns.

Neptune Strike 2024-2 is a NATO enhanced Vigilance Activity running on October 24-31 in the areas of operations across Europe, from the Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea  till the North and Baltic Seas, designed to the freedom of maneuver and navigation in NATO areas of operations, to ensure deterrence and enhance interoperability among NATO’s maritime, land and air capabilities.  

Organized by the Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO), Neptune Strike involves warships and military aircraft of 17 participants. The objective of the activity is to showcase the Alliance unity, combat capabilities and determination to defend its territory.
