Lithuanian Army troops train at multinational HIMARS crew course in Germany

On December 15-21 personnel of the Rocket Artillery Battery of the Lithuanian Land Force are training at the Grafenwoehr Base in Germany. The activity equips Lithuanian military personnel with theoretical awareness by themselves effectively and to be able to integrate capabilities with other units. The rocket artillery training is conducted in tight collaboration with the 3rd HIMARS Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Field Artillery Brigade, U.S. Army V Corps.

“We aim to train our military personnel to match the highest NATO standards through these joint events. Training with Allies is more than instilling or embedding practical skills, it is also an opportunity to deepen the mutual cooperation and hone collective tasks,” said Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Rocket Artillery Battery Major Justinas Čekanauskas.

The joint training event forms HIMARS crew, fire control specialist, ammunition officer and junior command skills through theoretical and practical training in technical depots and training areas. Special focus is put on the students’ ability to maintain and operate the HIMARS effectively by themselves. The troops are rehearsing HIMARS maintenance and examinations, implement fire tasks, drive HIMARS trucks anytime round the clock, recharge missiles and prepare for launching, etc.
