Lithuanian soldiers training at Exercise Immediate Response 2019

On May 10 - June 7 Exercise Immediate Response 2019 co-organised by the U.S. Army Europe and NATO allies is running in Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary, the multinational exercise is held to strengthen regional security and develop military cooperation of the participating countries. Designed to rain completion of logistic tasks, the exercise involves approximately 1,600 soldiers from 15 countries. Soldiers of the Reconnaissance Platoon of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalion participating on Lithuania's behalf are practising terrain and object reconnaissance tasks.


Exercise Immediate Response 2019 focusses on a swift re-deployment of NATO forces and equipment between different locations, also, reconnaissance, airborne landing, live fire, medical personnel training, and other support tasks.

On May 29 Commander of the Lithuanian Land Force Maj Gen Valdemaras Rupšys and escorting officers familiarised with exercise objectives, observed a demonstration operation, viewed equipment and weaponry, and talked to participating soldiers during DV and Media Day of Exercise Immediate Response 2019 at the Eugen Kvaternik Training Area in Croatia.
