Lithuanian troops get ready for NATO exercise

On March 17 a four-day command post exercise Smart Wolf II involving staff and units of the Lithuanian Mechanised Infantry Brigade (MIB) "Iron Wolf" took off in Rukla (Jonava Dist.). The exercise trains Lithuanian military personnel perform tasks alongside NATO allies.

 

"The main objective of the exercise is to prepare appropriately for international Exercise Yellow Knight where we will be training offensive operations alongside other Baltic countries' and allies' troops this April in Denmark," MIB Iron Wolf Commander Colonel Raimundas Vaikšnoras said.

 

According to COL R. Vaikšnoras, participation in the training events organised by the Danish Division Staff is one of the combat training priorities of the MIB Iron Wolf.

 

Three-fold Exercise Smart Wolf II includes preparation phase for the participating staff and units, 10 hours non-stop battle command phase, and hot wash up and redeployment of units to home bases. The exercise encompasses over 150 participants from the MIB "Iron Wolf", its subordinate units and attached units (Juozas Vitkus Engineer Battalion, Lithuanian Air Force, Military Police).

 

Command post exercise Smart Wolf II is a continuing training which will prepare and try out operational plans to be tested at the international exercise Yellow Knight this April in Denmark. The exercise arranged by the Danish Division Staff will involve Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian and Danish brigades' personnel.
