Lithuanian troops take part in international exercise Maple Arch 2014 in Poland

On September 9-19 Lublin, Poland, is hosting an annual international Exercise Maple Arch involving over 250 participants from Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine and Canada.

 

The exercise aimed at improving interoperability and training of Poland's, Lithuania's and Ukraine's national units is following a peace support scenario this year: the participants are tasked with planning and completing a crisis management operation. The first week will even out the participants' background knowledge, whereas the active phase will follow on the second week to challenge the participants with the implementation of an operational concept.

 

This year the Lithuanian Armed Forces is represented in Exercise Maple Arch by ground forces personnel from the Grand Duchess Birutė Uhlan Battalion and the 6th Territorial Unit of the Resurrection Military District of the National Defence Volunteer Force.

 

The international exercise Maple Arch is organised and led by the Canadian Armed Forces in thhe framework of a Canada-sponsored Military Training Assistance Program. The exercise is hosted on the soil of one of the participating countries. Maple Arch 2015 will take place in Lithuania
