Next week two groups formed by soldiers with the Lithuanian Land Force General Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion will fall in beside other allies' troops training in multinational Exercise Dynamic Front 2018 in Germany. Later Lithuanian military fire support specialists from the headquarters of the Motorised Infantry Brigade Griffin, Brigadier General Motiejus Pečiulionis Artillery Battalion, Juozas Lukša Training Centre, and the Lithuanian Duke Vaidotas Mechanised Infantry Battalion will join the exercise to run until March 11. Over 30 Lithuanian military personnel are planned to be training in one of the largest Europe's fire support exercises.
The exercise based in Germany will train fire control units from corps to battalion levels. Acting out the scenario of operational command and control, as many as 21 artillery unit swill train live fire and receive air support.
Lithuanian Land Force fire support experts will rehearse indirect fire planning and coordination for NATO units using ADLER 2 automated fire control system during Exercise Dynamic Front 2018. Lithuanian soldiers in forward observer role will have the opportunity to train and rehearse calling in, controlling and adjusting indirect fire. They will be also able to acquaint themselves with forward observer equipment used in other countries' militaries.
Exercise Dynamic Front 2018 is one of the largest joint fire support exercises in Europe. Other countries training their soldiers and fire support units in the exercise will be Croatia, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, UK, and the U.S. In total, Exercise Dynamic Front 2018 will have roughly 2,000 participants.
