Chief of the Defence Staff Lt Gen Remigijus Baltrėnas met with U.S. Army V Corps Deputy Commanding General – Maneuver V Corps Lt Gen Ollie Kingsbury in Vilnius today. Generals discussed security situation, defence plans and their synchronization.
“Military cooperation with the U.S. Army V Corps has been developing since five years ago. Even historically, the mission of the Corps has been pivotal, namely, the defence of Europe. Hence, presence of the U.S. V Corps Forward Operating Station in Poland demonstrates the serious and particularly responsible approach of the United States to the security of our region. We are enhancing interoperability and synchronizing action to deliver on Lithuania’s defence through mutual partnership, joint training and exercises with the U.S.,” said Lt Gen R. Baltrėnas after the meeting.
The U.S. Army V Corps generates long-ranging rotational capabilities based in Poland for reinforcement, formation, deterrence, warfighting and victory in Europe. Historically, the Corps was deployed in defence of Europe during World War II. Headquartered at Fort Knox in Kentucky, and forward-based in Poznan, Poland, the V Corps facilitates readiness and interoperability between the U.S. Army, Allies and Partners against potential adversaries.
